General Information

Level:3-10 Season:June 1 — September 30

A popular kitesurfing spot, this is suitable for intermediate levels and above. If you get bored of the kiting here, you could always go play on the Parks 280-foot waterslide.

Beach

The beach is public access and easy to get onto. It’s sandy shore with a grassy backdrop, and there is enough room that you don’t really need to worry about getting in the way of others while setting up. It is a temperate area an unlike the coastal parts of Oregon, you’ll find wide differences in the climate from to month. In late summer and early fall the temperature will range from about 22c to maybe 12c, so pack your kit appropriately.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

It’s a thermal wind here, best coming from the north although it rarely comes from any other direction. Speed is moderate at around 20knots, though the surrounding hills mean it can be a bit turbulent. Freestyle and freeride styles are common here, and it’s never busy even on warm summer weekends. The best time to come is in the afternoons between June and September, when the winds are most consistent. The water is pretty clean, and there is no current at all, nor any dependency on tides as it is on a lake.

Facilities

There is parking here and you can camp, but there aren’t any other facilities – you’ll need to bring everything you think you might need with you.

Safety

It gets cold here and the water never really warms up much, even in summer, so you’re going to need to make sure you bring good warm kit. Aside from that, there’s enough room and water that you shouldn’t have any problems.
