General Information
Level:6-10 Season:May 1 — September 30 -
This is an awesome spot, but only for those with the experience to handle it. Everybody else should just watch from the sides as the pro’s shoot through barrels big enough for a bus. The waves can build frighteningly quickly, and even pro surfers can get caught out here. For those good enough, it is an amazing ride that keeps them coming back again and again.

Beach
-
Entry is straight out of the city, right by the north side of Eureka Harbor and less than a 5 minute walk. The beach is all public access if you decide you want to park right by the break.
-
Wind&Waves
-
This works best with a southeast or east wind and northwest swells. It is consistent, working from 1m and quickly building to over 5m, even way over that on big days. On good days you’ll get long rides up to 300m. It breaks both right and left, and the waves are hollow, fast and powerful. Make no mistake, this break is heavy and if you get you can be spun and thrown for what feels like forever, especially on the left side of the channel. The water is cold here, even in the summer, and even the air rarely gets above 65F or so.

Eureka is the largest city in Humboldt, and provides a fair range of accommodation and sights. Casinos, theatres, bars, restaurants and more will keep you interested while you wait for the surf to come up.
