General Information

Level:0-8 Season:January 1 — December 31

Named for the distinctive shape of the coast, this is a spot that is known as a beginner’s wave. It has a relaxed atmosphere and is a friendly place to be.

Beach

The beach here is thin but long and sandy. Just head north bound on Route 88 then follow the signs to find it at the end of Bridge Street. It is public access, just park as close as you can but make sure you do it legally or you’ll get a ticket. Walk for 5 or 10 minutes down to the beach itself.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The swell here starts working at a low level, well under 1m, and holds up to about 2m or bigger. It works on all tides and it doesn’t matter of you catch it on a rising or a falling tide either. It is a beach break, with the best break to the left, and the waves have about average power and are fun to be on. The spot is pretty quiet, whether you come here during the week or at weekend it rarely gets busy or crowded. It can be cold outside summer, and although the surfing can be inconsistent it can produce the best waves in the area if the wind is coming out of the south or west.

Facilities

There are a few facilities at the spot, with a couple of restaurants right in front of it where you can get some good food. Westport is the nearest town, and as it is a popular summer tourist destination it has plenty of accommodation and places to eat.

Safety

There isn’t any danger here, it is a good safe spot for beginners.
