General Information

Level:3-10 Season:November 1 — July 31

A very nice little spot this, it is just off the eastern coast of Martnique and because it is out of the shelter of the coast it gets first chance at some good winds.  It isn’t a beginners place, but windsurfers and kitesurfers with a little experience will have a good day out here.

Beach

The beach is sandy and clear of any obstacles, but it’s only a small area with the rest of the island being made up of scrubland.  It’s never going to be a busy place, so despite the small size of the beach you’ll have plenty of room to launch and land a kite.  Temperature wise, Martinique is tropical and the water will be approaching 30 C all year round, so there’s no need for a wetsuit except on the odd winter day when the wind can feel cool.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

You get a good long season round here, as it runs right through from November to July.  The winds are trade winds and blow mainly from the northeast and east, though the position of the island means that almost direction will work.  Windspeeds here will range from 15 knots to about 25 knots, possibly more, with the lightest winds in the morning and the strongest in the afternoons.  The water is shallow, and the surface is always flat.

Facilities

There is nothing on the island except for a couple of private houses, so bring all your kit with you.  To reach the spot you’ll need to get yourself to the town of Le Francois, then take a boat across to the island.

Safety

There aren’t any hazards as long as you can handle strong winds.
