General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
This is a nice spot, convenient for the main populated areas but still in its own little bay. It is useful for either kitesurfing or windsurfing, and anyone will be ok here regardless of their experience level.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy and it’s a good size, so there is lots of room to launch a kite safely and there is no limit to the places you can launch and land from, although it can get busy. Don’t bother bringing a wetsuit as temperatures are warm all year round, but a rash guard is a good idea because of the strong sun.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The trade winds blow consistently all year round, generally coming from the northeast which makes them side onshore. Wind speed doesn’t vary too much throughout the year, and you’ll always get at least 10 knots and up to 20 knots. The water is clean and very clear, and the tide has no effect on the conditions. Close to the shore the surface is just choppy, while further out you’ll get some small waves that are 0.5 – 1m high.
-
Facilities
-
There is a school here where you can pick up some tuition, and a shop offering sales, hire and repair of gear. Accommodation is nearby, there are food outlets and parking is right by the beach. Everything else is just a short distance away, including some good nightlife, and getting here is easy – there is an airport close by, and bus and taxi links all over the area.
-
Safety
-
Be careful of bystanders on the beach, and once on the water keep your distance from the stone wave breaker.
