General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — July 31 -
This oddly named beach is right up on the north-west corner of the island and is a great spot for kite surfing and windsurfing. Experience isn't really required here and beginners will find it a good place to start off.
-
Beach
-
The beach consists of pure white sand and is over half a mile long. Crowds are unheard-of here, and of course as it is a tropical region you can forget about bringing a wetsuit and look forward to temperatures in the high 20s.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The best wind directions here are when it comes from the east or the south-east. From January through to March you can expect speeds of over 30 knots for several days at a time, although more typically you'll see between 15 and 25 knots and this is especially true from May to July when the winds are most consistent. Avoid the place during September and October as this is hurricane season. The water is shallow all around and either flat inside the reef or choppy outside it.
-
Facilities
-
The facilities here are actually pretty good, even better than some of the famous locations in the USA or Australia. There is a school here that offers lessons, and the shop where you can hire or buy any gear that you need. There are rescue facilities on the beach, and there are places you can buy food and drink too.
-
Safety
-
Keep an eye out for swimmers coming across in front of you, and be careful of the reefs as the rocks and sharp coral can give some nasty cuts.
