General Information
Level:5-10 Season:May 1 — September 30 -
This spot is for experienced surfers only as it has some big, powerful waves when it fires. It has a good atmosphere and you’ll usually see a handful of locals out.
-
Beach
-
The beach here is good white sand running up to the jetty at the edge of the inlet. You need to get at this from Point Pleasant – just find the shore and then follow the boardwalk until it runs out. There are a few streets nearby where you can park and then it is only a couple of minutes walk to the beach. The surf spot is around the jetty on this side of the inlet – the other side is Manasquan, a different spot.
-
Wind&Waves
-
Good wind directions here are north, northwest, west or northeast. The swell can work when coming from the south, southeast or east, and the waves start building at 1m – 1.5 before building and holding at 4m and above, probably some of the biggest waves in the area. It works at all tide positions and on both rising and falling tides. The break is by the jetty and is mostly a left, but you can get a sharp right if conditions are right. The waves here are powerful, and they are also hollow and fast so it isn’t a place to try your luck. Wave length is about average, varying between 75 m – 150m depending on the swell. Whenever you come here, there will probably be a few locals out.

Facilities
-
Point Pleasant lives up to its name, and while it isn’t really a party town it has a good range of facilities and plenty of things to entertain of you aren’t surfing.
-
Safety
-
Watch out for the rocks, you can be pushed onto them hard, and the currents are also strong here.
