General Information
Level:5-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Situated on the south eastern side of the Greek island of Lesvos lies the beach at Katia. It is a popular spot for Kite surfers and wind surfers of all intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because of the strong tidal currents. The best times of the year to surf are between May and October although it does get busy with beach goers and sun bathers in July and August, so there may well be surfing restrictions in place during this time.

Beach
-
The beach is of medium size and is made up of soft white sand and is obstacle and hazard free. To get here you will need to drive around 10 minutes north from the town of Agrillia following the signs for the beach.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The main wind directions here are north, north east and southerly. These winds also work really well here. During the summer the thermal winds kick in around noon and there is a 90 percent chance of some decent wind conditions. In the winter the wind is less frequent but much more gustier. The water quality is crystal clear and conditions are shallow with small waves of up to 1 meter in height most of the time. The water temperature hovers around 14-26 degrees depending upon the season, so you may want to suit up during the winter.

Facilities
-
There is ample parking at the spot along with accommodation, shower and toilet facilities and the odd taverna where you can grab a bite to eat. For some good nightlife, head back into the town of Agrillia.

Safety
