General Information

Level:1-10 Season:January 1 — December 31

Kremasti is located just 3 km away from the airport so it is a great spot if you want to touch down and be on the beach within an hour or so. It is also only 12 km south west from Rhodes City so it really is well located. However, this location does make Kremasti very popular with holidaymakers. The spot is used by surfers of all types and abilities, but it has to be said that it is probably not that well suited to kitesurfers. There is no season here although the summer months from June to September do have the best wind conditions.

Beach

Pebble/Shingle Gradual descent

The beach is fairly small, stony, and about 20-25 meters wide with several trees and a road running alongside it, which can be hazardous for kiters. The area to enter the water is marked by buoys to separate the kiting area from the swimming area. It is quite important to stay upwind. You can launch further up the beach and then you will have a long downwinder back to the kite center.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot Regular wind

The wind directions are predominantly west, west south west and south west which are also the directions that work best at this spot. The thermals kick in from June to September, occurring daily around 2 pm until sunset. The meltemi, as they are called, are around 4.6 B.ft. The winds for the rest of the year are regular but can sometimes be quite gusty. The water is deep blue and crystal clear. There is no tide here so it depends on the wind as to whether or not the water is flat or choppy. There are a few rocks in the water and you would be advised to wear shoes as there are a lot of sea urchins here.

Facilities

Parking WC Shower

There is plenty of parking here as well as a shop selling surf gear. In addition there are shower and toilet facilities on the beach and a few places to buy food. There is also a fully manned rescue center should you get into difficulties. If you need provisions, head into Fanes town which has all that you need. There is some night life here but you will find a lot more in nearb y Rhodes City.
