General Information
Level:3-10 Season:November 1 — July 31 -
From the hook shape of the bay, you’d expect this to be quite a sheltered spot but it actually works in its favour, funneling the winds into it and providing good conditions for intermediate and better kitesurfers and windsurfers. It’s in front of the church, hence the name.
-
Beach
-
The beach is small and rocky, which means that it isn’t the easiest place to launch or land a kite. You should be able to find some room to move safely though, as it isn’t a particularly busy place and casual visitors are out off by the lack of sand. Temperatures are the same as the rest of the island, with the water reaching well into the high twenties all year round, and the only time you’ll need a shorty wetsuit is the odd day in winter when you might get a cool wind. June to October is the rainy season here.

Wind&Waves
-
You can get good, reliable winds for a good chunk of the year, from November right through until July. These trade winds will be pushing in from the north or east, and will start in the mornings at around 15 knots before reaching 25 knots or more by evening. The water is shallow and clear, and because of the nearby reefs you get a couple of different waves, from small ones up to about 1m high to moderate sized ones that reach up to 3m.
-
Facilities
-
You’ll get a couple of basic facilities here – there is plenty of parking in this small fishing village, and there are public toilets. Food outlets are also dotted around.
-
Safety
-
The wind can be strong, but the reefs are what can catch people out as the are only just below the surface.
