General Information

Situated half way between the resorts of Alicante and Torrevieja lies the stretch of coast known as La Ermita. It is s popular spot with wind and kite surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because of the rocky moles located at either end of the beach. The beach is small and does get a little packed in the summertime so restrictions may apply. It might be prudent to check before you set off. There is no season as such but you might want to avoid the busy months of June July and August.

Beach

Sand Gradual descent

The beach here is small and is only around 150 meters long. It is made up of soft white sand with rocky moles at both ends. To find it you simply drive south from Alicante on he N332 towards Arenales Del Sol, then head southwards for approx 2 kms to the spot.

The wind direction is mainly east southeast however it is fairly changeable during the winter months with anything from west northwest to south southwest. In fact, anything is possible here. The windspeed is a steady 6 knots for most of the year but in November it does get gusty and 12 knots is not uncommon.. The water quality is crystal clear with choppy conditions most of the time. However, when the wind is in the right direction and strong enough, it is possible to catch some small waves of up to 1 meter in height. The water temperature is typically Mediterranean so still hovers around 16 degrees even in the winter.

Parking

There isn't too much here apart from parking. If you need supplies, bars, restaurants and accommodation, then you might want to head to Arenales Del Sol which is the nearest town.

Safety

Watch out for the rocky moles situated on either side of the beach. Also keep an eye out for bathers and swimmers during the height of the season.
