General Information
Level:0-10 Season:May 1 — September 30 -
A fun spot for everyone whether they are experienced or not, this has a good friendly atmosphere too.
-
Beach
-
You’ll find the usual clean white sand here, and it’s relatively long so there is usually plenty of room to pick your spot. From the mainland, drive across on Route 37 and then pick up Route 35 north. Lavallette is halfway between the north and south Dover Beaches, and once you are in the borough park up wherever you can. The beach will only be a couple of minutes walk away, regardless of where you park.

Wind&Waves
-
The wind here comes out of the northwest, west or southwest and the swell is at its best when coming from the east or northeast. It starts working at less than 1m, but on a good day it can build up to over 4m, one of the biggest waves on this part of the coast. It works on all tide positions whether they are falling or rising too, so there you can just turn up and surf without too much planning. It breaks both right and left on a sandbar, and the waves are ledgey and fun. The length is good too, as even an average day can see over 100m and a good day can see it get over 250m. Surprisingly, there aren’t usually many surfers out here, even on summer weekends, and those you do see will probably be the locals who are pretty friendly.

Facilities
-
There are plenty of places to eat and shop in Lavallette, and if you want to stay here there are a couple of motels and some rental homes too.
-
Safety
-
On the big days the current can be strong, so if you don’t have much experience it might just as well to watch.
