General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Down in the southwest part of the island, this is a great little edge of town spot that is not only convenient but is useable by all ability levels of kitesurfers and windsurfers, from beginners upwards.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy and quite long, although it isn’t too wide which limits the available space a little. Behind the beach is a grassy area which can be used for rigging, and in general the area doesn’t get busy enough to cause any problems. Water temperatures are warm all year round, up in the high 20’s, and the only time a wetsuit is needed is the occasional winter day when a cool breeze is blowing.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The season is a good length here, running for three quarters of the year from November to July. The winds blow mainly from the northeast or east, making them sideshore, and will give 15 – 25 knots depending on the time of day. The water is the deep blue colour everybody associates with the Caribbean, and it’s usually a flat surface unless the wind is getting quite strong, when it can make it choppy.
-
Facilities
-
The beach is bare of facilities, although it is possible to park close by. The town of Le Diamant is a nice little place though, and should be able to sort you out for accommodation, food and drink, and entertainment.
-
Safety
-
Safety isn’t an issue here, the fact the beach is away from the town means that there are no buildings, wires or other hazards, and it never gets crowded enough to be an issue. Currents are gentle and prevailing wind is unlikely to make life difficult for anybody.
