General Information

Level:4-10 Season:December 1 — April 30

This is a spot for surfers, kiters and windsurfers who have a bit of experience as conditions aren’t the easiest around.  Stormy days will produce the biggest swells, but even at other times its quite consistent and a fun place to be out.

Beach

The beach is sandy and clear and not too bad in terms of size, but launching and landing points are limited.  The tropical climate makes it all year round, and though it’s possible to use it all year many don’t as the rainy season runs from June to December.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The wind is best when coming from the east, and December to April is the best time to come out here.  Winds build up from about 10 knots in December to about 20 knots by April.  This is the first beach in the area to start catching the wind and swell when the season starts, which makes it popular with surfers – the water is never flat, and often gives heavy waves that can be up to about 3m high.  The water is clean and clear, and the waves break over a reef.

Facilities

Facilities aren’t too bad here, certainly better than some other spots around.  Parking is easy and is close to the beach, and there are toilets and showers here too.  Once you’re done, there is also the odd food outlet where you can refuel.

Safety

The reef can be shallow and there are lots of sea urchins covering the seabed.  Ask locals for the best entry and exit points.
