General Information
Level:6-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
This makes up part of the trinity of good waves around here, along with Chuns Reef and Jockos Point, so if conditions are right you’ll be able to join them together. It is for experienced surfers only and will take a good technical knowledge to get the most from it – it isn’t a wave you can just jump onto and hope.
-
Beach
-
Just a short section of sandy beach here, fairly remote and with very few surfers out during the week, although it can get crowded at weekends.
-
Wind&Waves
-
This spot is independent of the tide position and it doesn’t matter whether the tide is rising or falling, so feel free to roll up here any time of day and expect waves. It starts working at less than 1m and holds up to about 2m or 2,5m, and is best when the wind is blowing from the southwest, south or southeast and the swell is from the north, northwest or northeast. It’s a reef break, only to the left, and the waves are hollow and fast which makes it a great wave. Length is about average for Oahu, and can be as much as 150m although you should probably expect more like 100m.

Facilities
-
Parking isn’t far from the beach, just a couple of minutes and straight off the highway, and there should be plenty of room. The beach doesn’t have any facilities though, no lifeguards, restrooms or showers, so if you’re wanting home comforts you’ll be better heading for one of the more popular tourist beaches.

Safety
-
Watch out for the rocks that make up the reef, they’re covered in sharp coral that can cut you up, and as there are frequent shark sightings you don’t really need that. Don’t leave valuables in the car either, as the parking lot is screened by the bushes and this isn’t the nicest area.
