Located just ten minutes drive away from Chalkida (which is the capital city of Evia, the second largest of the Greek Islands) lies the seaside resort of Leukanti and it's popular kite and waterski park which hosts regular kiteboarding festivals. As you would expect, this spot is totally geared up for kiteboarders of all abilities. The season runs from February to November.

Beach

The beach is medium sized and sandy and obstacle free. It is busy practically all year round although the summer months see the most action. You can get here easily from Athens, which is only 100 kms away, by car or rail. There is a regular rail link in operation which goes direct from Athens to Chalkida which is just ten minutes drive away from Leukanti.

The winds are predominantly thermal easterlies and blow in a variety of easterly directions with the best winds coming from either the east, east southeast or south east. The winds are pretty regular throughout the year with the best months being from February to November. The water quality is clean and clear with small waves most of the time.

Facilities

This spot is totally geared up for both water skiing and kite surfing and has plenty of facilities including a school, shop, and a rental shop. There is a camp site here and toilet and shower facilities. In addition there are places to buy a drink and grab a bite to eat. It is also easy to park here. A fully manned rescue service also operates throughout the season.
