Los Alamos is a 4km stretch of beach that lies on the busy coastline between Malaga and Torremolinos, Southern Spain. It is a popular spot with surfers, and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. There is no season here, however the best time to surf is between May and September where a south or south westerly sideshore wind can blow anywhere between 12-30 knots. Like all beaches up and down this coastline, it does get very busy during the summer months, particularly August, when the Spanish seem to take their holidays. The winds are thermal and mainly originate from a south easterly direction which is great news for kite surfers. However from November through to March the winds are easterly and average around 9-10 knots. The water is generally choppy with small waves of up to around 1 meter in height and the water quality is clean. The water temperature is somewhere between 15 degrees in the winter and 26 degrees in the summer. A long wetsuit may be required in the winter but the rest of the year a shorty or shorts should suffice.
