Situated about 1 hour east of the city of Almeria on Spain's south eastern coast lies the beach at Los Genoveses It is a popular spot with surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. The beach here does get busy with tourists and beach goers during the summer season, so there may well be surfing restrictions in place. If this is the case, then you will need to check it out before you set off. Having said this, the best times of the year to surf are between April and September when the thermal winds are about.

During the summer, the south westerly breezes bring in some excellent thermals. However in the winter the westerly breezes can be much stronger and much more gusty. The water quality is crystal clear and conditions are mainly choppy with small to medium waves of around 3 meters in height. The water temperature remains around 18-26 degrees depending upon the time of year.
