General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Los Narejos is one of the most popular spots for water sports on the Mar Menor lake. It caters for everything from water skiing to wind and kite surfing, to scuba diving and sailing. All the various watersports have their designated zones and are cordoned off by large fishing nets and marker buoys. It is possible for enthusiasts of all levels and abilities to practice here. It is reasonably busy all year around, however July and August are exceptionally so. If you are going to come during these months, then avoid weekends. The best winds happen from autumn through to spring.
-
Beach
-
The beach here is a medium sized sandy beach that gets pretty packed during the summer, however, out of season it is possible that you can pick your spot. To find it you simply follow the signs to the Mar Menor from Cartagena or the Airport and then head west, up the lake until you come to Los Narejos, here you can park.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The winds here are thermal in nature, more so during the summer months and the predominant direction is east north easterly and occasionally south south westerly, which is the best direction for surfing in this area. The wind speed hovers around 8-9 knots and is fairly consistent all through the year. The water is crystal clear and is flat to choppy, with a large shallow area of about 150 meters. So this is good for beginners to practice. The water temperature remains at around 18 degrees, even during the winter, so a normal wetsuit is sufficient even in the winter.

Facilities
-
As this is a major watersport destination, the facilities here are excellent. There is a watersports training school that offers all sorts of lessons. There is also a shop catering for all your needs. A repair shop is on hand if you encounter a problem. There are also plenty of eating places and a campsite nearby. There is also ample parking.

Safety
-
Try to stay within your designated zones and watch out for fishing nets and marker buoys. Also keep an eye out for jet skiers and other boats and even the odd stray swimmer.
