General Information
Level:10-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Lubmin sits on the Greifswalder Bodden, a large inlet that flows in from the Baltic Sea. It can be a popular destination for kite surfers, windsurfers and surfers, of all abilities, depending upon season. The best time to surf is April when the wind is in the North Easterly direction, but it is possible to surf all year round. There is parking close by but parking fees apply.

Beach
-
The spot has a long sandy beach which is around 25 meters wide, so there is no shortage of space, even in the busy summer months. There are a few obstacles on the beach such as fencing and poles, but on the whole it is pretty clear. To find it you will need to drive eastwards out of Greifswald towards Usedom and Kemnitz. Turn left and drive northbound on the L262 towards Lubmin. You can park at the Strandepromenade.

Wind&Waves
-
The wind direction here is predominantly westerly and can hit you full frontal. They occur mostly during the off season months of autumn through to spring. The best wind direction is north easterly, which can occur in April but is dependent on depressions. The wind speed hovers around the 8 knot mark and is fairly consistent. The water here is flat to choppy and when the winds are stronger does produce small waves of around 1 meter in height. The water temperature can get up to around 22 degrees, but off season, a thick suit is required.

Facilities
-
There really is nothing here apart from parking facilities. So if you need supplies, food, accommodation etc, then head into Greifswald. It has everything that you need.
-
Safety
-
There isn’t much to look out for here, except maybe crowds and swimmers in the summer. Apart from that it’s pretty clear.
