General Information

Level:0-5 Season:May 1 — September 30

A decent wave for beginners, this is a popular spot in Rehoboth. There isn’t much to challenge experienced surfers, but it can still be worth a look if you are in the area.

Beach

Another long sandy beach, but the hordes on it mean it isn’t always very clean. To get here just take Route 1, follow the signs for Rehoboth Beach and then look for Main Street. Park up wherever is convenient and take a five minute walk to the shore.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

A good wind here is considered to be from the northwest or west, and the same applies to the swell direction. The swells start working at less than 1m and hold up to over 2m on a good day, and it works on both rising and falling tides. It’s your standard beach break, both right and left, and the waves don’t have much power but they can still be fun. Ride length is pretty ordinary at around 100m or so, and they are pretty frequent so just wait your turn. It’s also very crowded all the time, both during the week and at weekends.

Facilities

This is a very popular summer destination, with its normal population increasing by over 10 times once the weather picks up. It has always been, and still is, known for its beaches, wooden boardwalk, unusual shops and sporting activities. It also has a decent choice of accommodation and places to eat, and has an overtly gay-friendly beach near Queen Street.

Safety

There are some rocks to avoid near the shore, you should avoid hitting the jetty, and the place isn’t the cleanest to surf in. The locals are ok as long as you have some manners and don’t just drop in on them.
