General Information

Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — August 31

Just south of the bird sanctuary is this big beach that is fairly sheltered and should be a good bet for everybody, whether they are beginners or have a lot of experience.  The facilities here are pretty good and the atmosphere is pretty relaxing.

Beach

The beach is pretty big, all clear white sand with no obstructions on it at all.  It’s big enough to handle all the visitors it gets and you’ll have plenty of room to launch and land kites.  As with the rest of Aruba, the tropical climate means that you only need to bring shorts as the air temperature will be around 30C all year round and the water temperature not far behind it.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

January to August is when the conditions are best here.  The wind blows from the northeast and regularly gives over 25 knots, starting lighter in the morning and building up through the afternoon.  For the rest of the year wind is lighter and can be gusty, but you are still almost guaranteed windspeeds of 10 – 15 knots even then.  The water is crystal clear, very clean and is usually flat or choppy, though if the wind is getting really strong some small waves up to about 1m high are possible.

Facilities

This spot is really well appointed and you shouldn’t want for anything while here.  Rescue facilities are here, and there are public toilets and showers right by the beach.  There are places to buy food and drink, and accommodation is also available close by.  Parking is easy, and is right next to the beach itself so you won’t need to carry your gear far at all.

Safety

The only possible hazards are the gusty winds which usually appear during the storm season from September to December.
