General Information

Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31

Surrounded by reefs, this coastal spot is effectively in a lagoon and as a result it is protected from the worst of the ocean currents.  This makes it a safe, predictable spot that will appeal to windsurfers and kitesurfers of all abilities but is especially suited to beginners.

Beach

There isn’t actually a beach here, anything you do needs to be started from the water and as its a little way off shore a boat is your best way to get to it.   Of course, this does mean that it is a fairly solitary place to be out, so if you like being on your own then this will suit your needs.  The climate is tropical, and this south coast is drier than the north.  The water will easily be into the high 20’s all year round, so only sun protection is needed.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

As this is a little way offshore, most wind directions work but the main direction is from the east.  You can expect winds of 15 – 20 knots, and they are quite consistent and blow all year round.  The water is shallow and clear al around the area, and the reefs block any swell so the surface is always flat regardless of how windy it gets.

Facilities

There is no infrastructure here.  To access it you’ll need to drive to La Parguera and then hire a boat for the day.

Safety

Boots are advised because of the sharp reefs, and anyone with a kite needs to make sure they don’t get tangled up in the mangroves that grow here, as they can be up to 7 metres high.
