General Information
Level:4-10 Season:April 1 — May 31 -
This is a tricky little spot that requires fine control and a fair bit of experience to manage safely, especially when kite surfing. It is a friendly enough place though, and if you like the feeling that you are out in the wilds then this should interest you as it is buried in the middle of a huge State Park with very little development anywhere nearby.
-
Beach
-
The beach is pretty small here, and at high tide it disappears completely. When not underwater it is sandy and narrow, and can feel crowded even when there are only a few people here. Despite air temperatures approaching 30° C in summer, you will need a wetsuit all year round as the water stays cool.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The spot is usable all year round except for when the river is frozen over, but the best times to be here are April to May and September to October. At these times the winds come from the south-west or the north-west and reach about 10 knots on average, but they are gusty and sometimes difficult to predict. The deepest parts of the river catch the best winds, and the surface will vary from flat to choppy.
-
Facilities
-
There are public toilets available here, but don't expect any more than that in the way of facilities. Parking is available right next to the beach, and you will need to pay for a permit when you get here.
-
Safety
-
There are trees on the beach right up to the shore line and there are also stakes in the water that you will need to note and avoid. There can also be a fair bit of boat traffic.
