Situated northwest on the beautiful island of Kos lies the beach at Mastichari. It is a popular spot for kite surfers and wind surfers of all levels and abilities The beach does get busy with sun bathers and tourists during the months of June, July and August so there may well be surfing restrictions in place. Having said this, it is the best time to surf as this is when you can pick up some nice thermal breezes.

The main wind directions are east and north northwest and these are directions that work well here. The best winds are during the summer with an 80-90 percent chance. The water quality is crystal clear and conditions are choppy to small waves most of the time. The water temperature falls somewhere between 14-26 degrees depending upon the time of year so in the wintertime you may need a long suit.
