General Information
Level:0-10 Season:October 1 — April 1 -
This is one of the biggest waves in the state, yet it is fairly easy to ride and lack of experience is no barrier to going out here. It is right at the southern end of Montecito, and is named for the hotel which stands behind the beach.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy and clean, with a wall separating from the nearby houses. Not many people ever bother coming down here, and if you go out during the week you are likely to be on your own, and there are likely to be no more than a handful of other surfers out even at weekends.

Wind&Waves
-
This place is at its best when the wind is blowing from the north or north-east, and the swell is coming from the west although occasionally it will work with it from the south-west or south as well. The waves will start working at 1 m to 1.5 m and hold up to a maximum of about 5 m. It is a point break, only to the right, and the waves are pretty fast but probably not quite as heavy as you might think at first glance. Length is quite good, better than many other places around here, and you can expect it to be between 200 and 300 m almost all the time.
-
Facilities
-
This place hasn't been developed at all, so you'll need to bring anything you need with you. You can park in the hotels own parking lot, and from there it is only a short walk to the beach.
-
Safety
-
Provided you have the experience to handle big waves, or are willing to learn, you shouldn't find that there are any hazards here.
