General Information
Level:5-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
You'll find this spot right on the north-west coast of the island, and you'll find kite surfers, windsurfers and surfers out here but it isn't the easiest place to be and you will need to have a fair bit of experience to be able to handle it.
-
Beach
-
The size of the beach depends on the tide, but it's a mixture of grass and sand and is a popular spot for visitors with crowds possible here all year round. Kite surfers should be aware that trees are close to the beach and powerlines also pass through the area.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The wind is good here all year round, with the best direction being from the north or the north-east. Wind speed is easily over 20 knots at times, and you can get some big thermal winds on the beach so kiters should make sure they keep low and near the shore. As far as the water is concerned, anything goes here. It can be choppy one day, and on others the waves can be a small as 1 m or as highest three or 4 m.
-
Facilities
-
The facilities here aren't too bad, at least compared to many other spots on the island. There is a campsite here if you want some cheap accommodation, and there are also showers and toilets close to the beach. Parking is just off the main road and right next to the beach.
-
Safety
-
There are all sorts of hazards possible here, from the crowds on the beach to the coral reef, rocks in the water, strong currents and even fishermans nets. It isn’t for the faint hearted or those who can’t control their movements precisely.
