General Information
Level:5-10 Season:May 1 — September 30 -
This is a pretty consistent break suitable for experienced surfers. It is worth it for the novelty value alone, of riding wave alongside a plane as it floats in to land on the runway at the side of you.
-
Beach
-
There isn't much of a beach here really, it's a long thin strip of sand that backs onto an aircraft runway. The best time to be here is in the summer, and you can expect the water temperatures them to be in around 25C. There will only be a few surfers out during the week, but at weekends it can get pretty crowded.
-
Wind&Waves
-
This place works best when the wind is coming from the south and the swell is coming from the north, although it doesn't matter what the tide position is. The swell will start working at about 1 m, and hold up to about 2.5 m. It is a reef break, both right and left, and the wave gets fast and powerful as it funnels down the channel. Length is about average on most days, maxing out at about 150 m, although on a good day you can see it get to between 200 and 300 m.

Facilities
-
Lifeguards patrol this spot, which is just as well judging by the number of people who underestimate it. You can camp nearby if you just want to chill out and be right on the site, otherwise you will have to head east for a few minutes to get to the main part of the town itself where you'll find accommodation and bars etc.
-
Safety
-
Avoid this spot in the winter, as it is a shark breeding ground. Watch out for the current in the channel too as it is extremely strong.
