Neuhaus is an ocean spot that sits on the Baltic coast. It lies juxtaposed with the Saaler Bodden Lake and is a good spot for surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers of all abilities. The best months are spring and autumn and there is parking at the camping ground nearby.

Beach

Neuhaus has a medium sized long sandy beach that is free from obstacles and stones. It gets pretty full with tourists in the summer, but out of season you can generally have your pick of the spot. Here’s how to get here…. At Altheide turn left at Fischland Daars then look out for the signs to Neuhaus. Once here, look for the camping ground and park there.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

For most of the year, the wind direction is frontal and predominantly west facing. The summer winds are lighter but you can get some really nice north easterly and easterly breezes, however, this doesn’t occur too often. The best winds for surfing here are westerly driven, and the wind speed hovers at around 9-10 knots pretty much all the time. The water is choppy with the occasional small wave of around 1 meter in height. When the breeze picks up, be aware that strong tidal currents occur. The water temperature stays at around 15 -18 degrees depending on season with the winter being colder at around 5-7 degrees.

Facilities

There is a campsite close by that offers parking, shower and toilet facilities, shops, bars, restaurants and accommodation.

Safety

Beware of the strong tidal currents when the wind picks up. Also look out for swimmers during the summer as there are no restricted zones.
