General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
This is a pretty sheltered place where you'll find that the waves are a lot lazier than they are in other northern areas, especially during the winter. It is suitable for all surfers, although getting access the place is now difficult.
-
Beach
-
Beach: The beach here is part of the Marine Corps base, so you aren’t going to sneak onto it. You're only chance for access is if you know somebody you have a pass. If you make it, it's a decent clean sandy beach with plenty of room and it is quiet during the week although it can get very busy at weekend as half the base comes out to play.
-
Wind&Waves
-
This place is at its best when the wind is coming from the south-west or the south, and the swell is working from the north, east, or north-east. It needs to be at mid or high tide position, though it doesn't matter whether the tide is rising or falling, and you'll find that it starts working at less than 1 m and holds up to about 2.5 m. It is a reef break, both right and left, and the waves are often hollow and always fun. Length is pretty short, with most days being around 50 m, but you will get the odd day when it can reach up to about 250 m.
-
Facilities
-
If you have the access permission to be on here, then you already know that the base offers everything you need.
-
Safety
-
Remember it's a private beach, and if you are caught here without permission you will be in serious trouble.
