General Information
Level:0-10 Season:March 1 — October 1 -
Kitesurfers and windsurfers both use this spot, set in the exclusive East Hampton area of New York. There is a lot of money in this area and it’s reflected in the houses and general demeanour of the place. It’s suitable for all levels of experience.
-
Beach
-
The beach is long and sandy, with no hazards. There is plenty of room to get gear sorted away from other users, and when launching or landing you can pretty much pick your spot. Temperatures here range from the mid-twenties in July to just above freezing in January and February.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The best wind direction here is from the west in spring or the northwest in the fall, when you’ll get a decent 10-12 knots. If you’re here in summer, the wind tends to be more from the south and slightly less strong, averaging around 8-10 knots. The waves tend to be smallest in the summer months too, never getting much more than a couple of metres high, although in spring and fall they can exceed 3m. The water is good quality here, and it’s independent of tide so you can just roll up anytime of day and get out to play.
-
Facilities
-
There aren’t any facilities here apart from the parking, though it has to be said there is plenty of it and provided you have a permit you can roll right up to the beach.
-
Safety
-
There are no hazards here at all, it is just somewhere that you should get straight out on and spend the enjoying yourself. Make sure you follow the town rules regarding keeping your distance from swimmers though, they are heavily enforced.
