General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
This is one of the better surfing beaches on Fire Island, giving a consistent break and decent waves. It’s not the easiest place to get to, but that just means you get to keep the space to yourself. It can be surfed by all experience levels.

Beach
-
This beach is great, sandy and with a lot of room between the rock jetties, and you can surf near either of these, though the middle is reserved for swimmers during the day. You’ll need a thin wetsuit here in summer, a full suit in fall and the whole lot including boots, gloves and a hood in winter.

Wind&Waves
-
The best wind is when it coming out of either the north or the northeast, and the swell is best when coming from the northwest or west. It should be caught at either low or mid tide positions, when it will start working at less than 1m and hold up to just over 3m. The waves break over a sandbar, both left and right, and at this spot they are steep and fairly fast. Length is short throughout the summer, never more than 50m, but if you turn up in the fall when the hurricane swells are rolling in you could easily see over 250m. It’s still a quiet spot though, empty on weekdays and only a couple of others out at weekends.

Facilities
-
There are no cars allowed on the island so you’ll need to get a boat in here. As it’s mainly a summer community, there are only a few shops and very little else apart from the houses. Having said that, it does have a good nightlife in summer months

Safety
-
Mind the rips don’t pull you out, and watch out for rocks as you’re surfing close to a rock jetty.
