General Information
Level:0-10 Season:April 30 — September 30 -
This is in one of the most exclusive, and privileged, areas in New York and the houses reflect the wealth here. It’s a decent spot for surfing and it is suitable for all experience levels.
-
Beach
-
Like the inhabitants and the general area, the beach is flawless. It’s clean sand with plenty of room and it’s kept that way by keen litter patrols - you’ll face a hefty fine if you don’t keep it clean.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The swell and the wind both come from the north most of the time, and the surf works best with that combination. The swell will start working at less than 1m, and will hold up to about 2m or so, but not really any more than 2.5m even on a good day. It is fairly average beach break, going both left and right, but despite the relatively small size the waves can come in fast, carry a decent amount of power, and they can even be hollow on occasion. It works at all tide positions, but you need to be here when the tide is falling to get the best conditions. There will only be a handful of others out n weekdays, but a summer weekend will see plenty of other surfers out who are a mix of locals and visitors.

Facilities
-
If you aren’t a resident you can only park in the town before 10 a.m. and after 5p.m. without risking a ticket. There are no lifeguards on Egypt Beach, unlike some of the other East Hampton beaches.
-
Safety
-
Currents can be strong here, so you’ll need to be aware of where they are, and being such a rich area the locals can be protective of it if you don’t look like you belong.
