General Information

Beach
-
There is not much of a beach to speak of, just a dyke and a grassed area with some sand leading into the water at low tide. Experienced kiters can launch from the dyke but otherwise it's best to keep to the left hand side of the beach away from the beach chairs or launch from the sand which is exposed at low tide, the alternative being a walk over stones. Get here by heading towards Ottendorf on the B73. Find Spielstrasse Street and park in the large carpark. The beach is within walking distance from here.

Wind&Waves
-
The winds are generally frontal westerlies with depressions with the best winds being in spring to fall. The wind strengths vary but can feel quite strong about 300 meters from shore although that is due to the current. The water can be flat to choppy and although there are tides, the area works all the time although strong currents can be a problem. The best time to surf is about 2 hours after high tide because it reveals the sand making access and exit easier. West and north west winds work well after high tide and north east works before high tide. Kitesurfers are always downshore of the windsurfers.

Safety
