General Information
Level:6-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Situated on Spain's eastern coast a short drive south of the tourist resort of Torrevieja lies the beach at Playa Chica. It is a popular spot for surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because of the sharp rocks that are located to the south of the beach. Like all beaches around this area it gets very crowded with tourists during the summer months. So there may well be time restrictions applied. If not, be prepared to get up close and personal with your beach going neighbors. The best time of the year to go is probably October through to April when the crowds have gone.

Beach
-
The beach here is quite small and sandy with sharp rocks to the south end of the beach. To get here you simply head south out of Alicante on the A7 or the N332 heading towards La Zenia. When you get here you will see signs for Urbanization La Regia. Follow the signs to the beach. The car park is west of the small harbor.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The main direction here is east northeasterly and the wind speed hovers around 8-9 knots and again is fairly consistent throughout the year. The water is crystal clear and there are waves most of the time, so that has to be good news for surfers. In fact when the wind is in the right direction and strong enough, it is possible to catch waves of over 3 meters in height.. The water temperature is temperate so even in the winter a normal long suit will suffice.
-
Facilities
-
There is parking close to the harbor and there is accommodation here as well. For all your supplies, shops, bars, restaurants, then head into Torrevieja.
-
Safety
-
Keep an eye out for the rocks located at the south end of the beach and watch out for passing ships/boats in the harbor.
