Situated on the north of the island close to the resort of Alcudia, lies the stretch of coastline known as Playa de Muro. It is a very popular spot for surfers, wind surfers, kite surfers alike of all levels and abilities, there are no time restrictions here as such, but the beach gets packed with tourists during the months of June, July and August so it is best to avoid these times. The best times to go are from October to April, when the beach is much quieter. Go during the week and you can virtually pick your spot.

The beach here is very long and pretty wide, so there is plenty of room out of season. It consists of soft white sand and there are no hazards to worry about. To find it you simply follow the signs located south out of Alcudia. There is ample parking near the beach.

The wind type here is thermal and it comes at you mainly from an easterly direction, which is also a good direction for surfing here. The wind speed is a gentle 2-3 knots most of the time but it can get fairly gusty in the winter months any thing up to 20 -25 knots. The water is flat to choppy with a shallow access for the first 150 meters. Small waves are possible when the wind picks up. The water temperature hovers between 15-26 degrees, dependent upon the time of year and the water quality is crystal clear.

There is ample parking here and beach side Chiringuitos are scattered all along the coastline so if you fancy a drink and a tapas you won't have to go far to find one. If you need accommodation and want to party the night away, then take the short drive back into Alcudia, it has everything that you require,

Safety

There is nothing too much to worry about here, except to keep an eye on bathers in the water during the summer season.
