General Information

Situated a stones throw from the major city of Gijon, on Spain's north coast lies the stretch of coastline known as Playa De San Lorenzo. It is a popular spot for kite and wind surfers of intermediate and expert abilities. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because there are rocks dotted on and around the water which need to be avoided, plus the fact that there are some strong undercurrents present also. The beach here does get very crowded with holiday makers especially during June, July and August, so because of this there are time restrictions in place. You may want to check these before you set off. The best times for surfing here are between the months of October through to April, when the tourists have all but disappeared.
