General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Situated at the busy port of Santander on Spain's northern coast lies the beach at Playa del Sardinero. This is a very popular spot for surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. This stretch of coast gets pretty busy with tourists and here is no exception. Because of this, there may well be zone and time restrictions in place, so it just might be a good idea to confirm before you set off. To avoid the restrictions and the crowds surf from October through to April.

Beach

Playa Del Sardinero boasts a glorious white sandy beach that is medium in size. To get here you simply head out of Santander, following the signs for the Playa Del Sardinero.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The wind direction here can be pretty changeable, but the best breezes for surfing come from the North, north northeast and north northwest. A northerly wind is also comes at you directly onshore. It does get fairly gusty here, especially in the wintertime, however the summer winds are much lighter. The water quality is clean and the conditions are choppy most of the time. However, when the wind is strong enough and in the right direction it is possible to catch waves of up to 3 meters in height. The water temperature hovers somewhere between 10-16 degrees depending upon the time of year, so a wetsuit is required, especially in the winter.

-
Safety
-
There isn't really too much to worry about here except to keep an eye out for swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the high season.
