General Information

Level:3-10 Season:November 1 — April 30

This place is right over on the western side of the Bay, and despite the area being sheltered and easy to surf in most places, this is one of the few exceptions. Wind comes from a variety of directions, and it should be used only by intermediate or better kite surfers and windsurfers.

Beach

The beach is sandy and clear, but it's only small. Fortunately it doesn't attract many visitors, and it should be easy enough to find space to launch and land a kite. Water temperatures in this area go from about 12° C in winter, to a maximum of about 20° C in the middle of summer.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

It's not a bad season here, you get a decent wind coming through from November to April. They are thermal winds coming mainly from the south-west, but also usable when from the west or north-west. Speeds can vary a little depending on the direction, but mostly you are looking at between 15 and 25 knots.  The water is clean and the conditions are unaffected by any tides, and the surface will be flat most of the time with the occasional chop if the wind is getting very stronger.

Facilities

Driving is the only way to get here, it would be a very long walk if you used public transport.  Parking is near the end of the point and you can get quite close to the beach itself, and there are some public toilets here too. For everything else, head in to Geelong.

Safety

There is a long pier to the east of the point, and you should keep your distance from this as it isn't going to move for you.
