General Information
Level:5-10 Season:April 1 — October 31 -
This is a nice area for surfing, but is only suitable for experienced surfers.
-
Beach
-
The spot is right on the tip of Cape May, and is a curved section of clean, sandy beach. Summer temperatures here will reach almost 30 degrees, falling to mid-teens in the fall and spring and dipping as low as minus two or three in winter.
-
Wind&Waves
-
This spot really only goes off during storms, and the location of the area means that wind and swell directions seem to be from everywhere at once although it is best with a strong northeast wind. The swell starts working at about 1m – 1.5m and holds up to about 2m or 2.5m, and it works on all tide positions and levels. It is a fairly standard beach break, though it only breaks to the right, and the waves have just enough power to make them worthwhile. A normal length will be over 120m, and a good day can see the length increase to as much as 300m. Despite the hazards here, it is a popular spot with a crowd here most of the time and it really gets packed on a summer weekend.

Facilities
-
There isn’t anything on the beach itself, though you can park pretty close to it. It’s best to bring everything you might need with you, and most visitors make it a day trip, but if you head back inland to the city you’ll find a wide range of tourist-oriented facilities.
-
Safety
-
There are strong rip tides here, so you need to be able to handle these before deciding to head out. Although it’s mostly friendly, plenty of locals come out here and won’t be impressed if you drop in on them.
