General Information
Level:9-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
Puerto Real is situated on the south west tip of Spain near the city of Cadiz and sits in a perfect natural bay that has been carved out by the North Atlantic. It is great place for kite surfers and windsurfers of all intermediate and expert levels. Beginners are not advised to surf here because of the wave breakers that are dotted along this stretch of beach. There is no particular season but it might be prudent to avoid the busy summer months, when the beach gets taken over by bathers and sun worshippers. There is plenty of parking close by and it is free.

Beach
-
The beach at Puerto Real is made up of sand and grass and is fairly small in size. How you get here is to travel east bound from Cadiz to Puerto real. Once in the town, head towards the south east end, where you will see signs for the beach. Follow the road down and here you can park.

Wind&Waves
-
The wind, like most spots along this stretch of coast is a bit of a mixed bag. May through to July is predominantly from a westerly direction, whereas March and April and August through to October are mainly easterly breezes. The remaining months are either northerly or southwesterly breezes. The wind speed is consistently up to around the 8-9 knot mark, although during November, December and January, the wind drops to around 5 knots. The water here can be pretty tidal with a large shallow area that produces flat water, even when the wind is blowing. In other areas it can get pretty choppy. The water temperature hovers around 21-23 degrees during the summer but drops down to around 9-11 degrees during the winter months.

Facilities
-
The beach itself has parking and a handful of beachside Chiringuitos where you can grab a drink and some tapas whilst you are waiting for the wind to change. If you want supplies, bars, restaurants and accommodation, then Puerto Real itself has these in abundance. If you are looking to party, then head for Cadiz, or better still, Sevilla

Safety
-
Watch out for wave breakers and groynes dotted all along this stretch of coast and beware that the water can be pretty tidal with a few strong undercurrents.
