Punta Del Fungar is located at the tip of a peninsular that justs out into the sea north at the mouth of the river Ebro in northern Spain. It is an important area for breeding sea birds and is also known for its lighthouse. It is also a good spot for kitesurfing. There is no season here and all year round kiting is possible.

Beach

The beach is long and big with golden sand and absolutely no obstacles scattered around. There is plenty of space to assemble and rig a kite and even in the summer months the beach is relatively empty towards the mud end. You can get from Tarragona by driving south towards Amposta and then north east to the Delta De Ebro and El Cava. Ask the locals for the way to the beach.

The winds change constantly in this area but are predominantly easterlies and directions thereof. The quality of the water is crystal clear and it is mainly choppy or with small waves. The water temperature is pleasant during the summer with only a pair of shorts needed. Come fall and spring and you can get by with a shorty or long legs, but you will need to suit up for the winter months.

Parking

There is absolutely nothing at this beach but a drive into nearby El Cava shoud provide you with all that you need in the way of shops and bars. If you're loooking for nightlife then you should head into Tarragona.

Safety

Be aware the the depths of water around the peninsular change constantly according to the wind speed and direction and can go from deep to shallow in a matter of minutes. Apart from that there are no real safety issues at this spot.
