General Information
Level:0-10 Season:April 1 — September 1 -
Situated close to the city of Huelva, where the Rio Punta Umbria flows out into the North Atlantic lies the lagoon spot at Punta Umbria Bajos. It is a very popular spot for wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. The best times for surfing are between April and September when the weather and the water is warmer. Although there are no tourists here, it does get fairly busy with other surfers, especially during June, July and August.

Beach
-
This spot has a medium sized sandy beach that is quite long with no hazards. To find it you will need to drive westbound out of Huelva and cross the bridge at Bellavista. Immediately after the bridge, head south and follow the road for around 12 kms until you see the lagoon and beach to the right. Here you will see the large car park. It's about a 200 meter walk to the river from here.

Wind&Waves
-
The main wind directions are southerly and westerly, but can be changeable depending upon the time of year. The good news is that because it is an almost closed lagoon, all directions tend to work here. The water quality is clean and is flat to choppy most of the time. There is also a large shallow area which is good for beginners. The water temperature remains between 18-26 degrees depending upon the time of year, so you may want to suit up or suit down accordingly.

Facilities

Safety
-
This is a pretty safe spot. Just be careful of swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the summer months. Also be mindful of other surfers in the vicinity.
