Riuet / Girona / Spain

Situated north east of Girona on Spain's north eastern coast lies the beach at Riuet. This is a great spot for wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities, because there aren't too many tourists around, even in the height of summer. The best times to surf here are April to September when you can pick up some nice thermals.

This spot has a long sandy beach with very few tourists. To get here you need to drive north of L'Escala following the coast road until you see the beach where you can park.

The wind tends to come at you from an easterly direction or variations thereof and during the summer the wind can switch to a southerly direction which brings with it some nice thermal breezes. The water quality is crystal clear and the conditions are generally choppy with some small waves occurring when the wind is in the right direction. The water temperature falls somewhere between 13-18 degrees depending upon the time of year.

There is accommodation here and ample parking. If you require shops, bars and restaurants, then your nearest town is L'Escala. For some really good nightlife head into the city of Girona.

There really aren't too many issues here as it is a really safe spot. Just keep a look out for swimmers and bathers in the water during the summer months.
