Saegia Lagoon / Djerba / Tunisia

This is a lagoon spot in the north east of Djerba near to Houmt Zouk. It's an attractive spot with palm trees and several resort hotels. It is popular with kitesurfers of all abilities who can surf there all year round although the best months are from May to September.

It is a small sandy beach with enough space for 5-7 kites. You can get here by going to the “Zone Touristique” and then heading towards the Club Med La Fidele.

The thermal winds blow all year round although they are at their strongest and most reliable in the summer months. The main direction is north east which also happens to work really well at this spot. The rest of the year can be a bit hit and miss and the winds are not as strong. The lagoon is about 500 x200 meters with water that is between 30-40 cm deep. At low tide, the lagoon practically vanishes. The water is perfectly flat and you can cruise steadily at 4 km. It rarely rains here and is warm and sunny. You only need wear shorts and a lycra for sun protection.

You can park easily here and there are shower and toilet facilities on the beach. There is also a surf shop here and a couple of places where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink. The nearest town is Houmt Zouk where you will find accommodation, shops, bars and restaurants. Nightlife is very limited here on the island.
