General Information

Level:5-10 Season:May 1 — September 30

One for experienced surfers only, this is a relatively new spot that gives some good sized waves. It’s also known as South 1st Street if you’re having trouble finding it.

Beach

There is a lot of room on this white sand beach, it’s fairly long and wide too. This stretch of coast tends to be fairly warm in summer so you will only need a thin suit, but if you come here in late fall or winter it will be relatively cold and you’ll need something thicker to wear.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The wind and the waves both work best when they are coming from the northwest or the west. When they both do this, you get waves that start working at about 1m and will hold up to about 3m or so, and its best to get in here at low tide. It is a beach break, only to the right, and the waves are hollow and fast with a decent amount of power in them. Ride length is good even on a normal day, anything up to 150m, and a good day will see it reach out towards 300m. There won’t be many others out during the week, but it does get crowded on a summer weekend.

Facilities

You can park on South 1st street without much hassle, and the shore is only a couple of minutes walk from there. There are showers on the beach and a lifeguard in summer, and places to stay nearby if you intend making a weekend of it. There are some good surf shops pretty close by too.

Safety

Currents can be strong when the waves are at their biggest, and there are submerged rocks that will ruin your day if you hit one.
