Sant Tomas is a stretch of coastline situated on the south east of the island of Menorca. It is a good spot for surfers, kite surfers and wind surfers of intermediate and expert levels. It is not advisable for beginners to practice here because of the rocks at the far end of the beach.. The best season to surf here is from May to October, although it does get packed with tourists during the summer months of June July and August so heavy surfing restrictions apply at these times. If you want to go in the height of the summer, then you will need to check before you set off.

Beach

Sand Gradual descent

The beach here is made up of soft white sand and is of medium size. There are sharp rocks situated at one end of the beach which should be avoided. To get here you head westwards out of Mahon on the A721 and follow the signs for San Tomas.

The wind here is predominantly north northeasterly, and this is also the best direction for surfing here. The wind speed is a breezy 9-10 knots most of the time however, the winter months can produce gusty conditions. The water quality is crystal clear and is generally flat to choppy, but when the wind is in the right direction it is possible to catch some small waves of around 1 meter in height. The water temperature stays somewhere in between 16-26 degrees dependent upon the time of year.

There is parking and accommodation close by. If you want shops, bars and restaurants then you need to take the short walk into Sant Tomas town. If you want to let your hair down, then you might want to drive to Mahon
