General Information
Level:1-7 Season:May 15 — September 15 -
Sebastian Inlet is the major celebrity of Florida’s surfing beaches. First made famous back in the 1960s, the rubble jetty was constructed over the natural inlet helping to create the behemoth waves that have turned alright surfers into stunt devils. A little bit of history for you – this is where the aerial was born. These days, Sebastian Inlet scene is merely one of competition, as surfers vie for space along these truly gorgeous waves.
-
Beach
-
The inlet is split into the north and south side. While surfing is possible at the south side, the best waves are found at the north side at three separate peaks. The First Peak is the best spot; but if you can’t wiggle your way in there, you can venture to the Second Peak, Third Peak, and the OK signs.
-
Wind&Waves
-
Wave size averages from 2 to 6 ft with west winds and low tide. Because the latter three peaks aren’t as good as the First Peak, people consistently come here to make a name for themselves at these lesser peaks, and ‘work’ their way towards admission to some best waves Florida has to offer.
-
Facilities
-
It costs 5 dollars admission to get into the Sebastian Inlet, but the park does have public parking aplenty. There are a couple of local restaurants in the area, but if you need a place to stay, head north to Indialantic where there are numerous motels and hotels. Other than surfing, fishing is the name of the game here, so once you’re done trying to get to the First Peak, try fishing off the jetty with the locals. For surf shops, you’re going to need to head way up north to Melbourne Beach.

Safety
-
Respect is a way of life here at Sebastian Inlet – so don’t get pushy on the waves.
