Situated on the western coast of Morocco about 30 kms south of the port city of Essasouira lies the beach at Sidi Kaouki. It is a very popular spot with kite surfers wind surfers and surfers of all levels and abilities. There are no restrictions here and you can surf all year round, however it does get busy with tourists during the hot summer months of June, July and August. Having said this the best times to surf are from April to October when the thermal winds kick in.

Beach

The beach here is excellent. It is made up of soft white Sahara sand and is around 2 kms in length. It is also wide enough for kiters to take off and land from. Just be mindful of beach goers. To get here, simply head southbound out of Essasouira following the signs for Sidi Kaouki and the beach. Here you can park.

Wind&Waves

The main wind directions are north, north easterly and north northeasterly, and these are the directions that work best here. The water quality is clean and conditions are flat to choppy, with small to medium waves appearing when the wind is strong enough and in the right direction. The water temperature remains somewhere between 15-25 degrees depending upon the time of year so you may need to suit up accordingly.

Facilities

The beach has ample parking but not much else. The town of Sidi Kaouki has a selection of shops bars restaurants and accommodation. Essasouira offers some great nightlife.

Safety

This is a very safe spot that provides shallow flat waters for beginners, but can also provide larger waves for more experienced people. Just be mindful of other surfers in your immediate vicinity.
