General Information

Level:3-10 Season:April 1 — September 30

This isn’t a bad spot for competent, established windsurfers and kiters. It’s on a river, so you need to be able to handle currents and other hazards before considering going out here.

Beach

Air temperatures are very hot in summer, and winters are generally cold, though the water tends to be a comfortable temperature in summer.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The lake effect gives a strong thermal wind, often blowing at over 25 knots although it is fairly consistent and doesn’t tend to gust unexpectedly. It is most consistent in the mornings and afternoons from April to September, so it is a popular summer destination. The water is pretty clean and visibility is good, but the current is quite strong due to the river flow. It tends to be a quiet spot during the week, but weekends can see it getting very crowded and you’ll have to be patient and take care when it comes to launching.

Facilities

There are toilet facilities and you can camp at the site, and there are a couple of nearby towns if you want some nightlife.

Safety

There is often a fair amount of traffic out on the water, so you need to watch out for it. The current is also fairly strong, running at over 2 knots, and there are submerged hazards to keep an eye out for too.
